FAQ

Here are the most frequently asked questions about our services. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

Can I keep my existing phone numbers?
Yes. My Tel Pros can port (transfer) your existing local and toll-free numbers to our network. Porting takes place seamlessly, behind the scences, after your Hosted PBX installation is finalized, and causes no disruption to your service.
Does Hosted PBX support fax machines?
Yes. You can choose to keep your existing fax machine, or switch to our eFax service to start sending and receiving faxes directly through your business email.
Can I use my existing IP phones?
In most cases you can re-use your existing phones, as long they are supported VoIP phones such as Yealink, Polycom, Cisco, Aastra, HTEK, Panasonic, Snom, or Zultys. You can check if your phone is supported by viewing our VoIP phone compatibility list. If you do not see your phone model on the list, please contact us, as we may still be able to help.

Please be aware that some providers will “lock” your phone to their service. So when you migrate a phone to My Tel Pros, we may request that you contact your current provider and ask them to unlock your phones, prior to your installation date.
Do you provide 911 emergency services?
Yes. My Tel Pros provides E911 registration with all phone numbers numbers. On the day of your Hosted PBX installation, you will receive an email to verify your E911 address. If you relocate an IP phone to an offsite location, it is your responsibility to register a new E911 address by contacting us at (984) 201-2000. Please note that additional E911 addresses will add additional fees to your monthly bill.

SIP Trunks

What makes SIP trunks so affordable?
To answer this question, first let’s discuss traditional, copper telephone lines. Up until recent years, a phone call required a physical connection between two points to complete a call. This meant running copper wires into your building and connecting it to your phone system. This aging infrastructure of physical copper lines is getting more and more expensive to maintain, which is why traditional phone lines are so costly.

SIP trunks, on the other hand, use the internet to make calls. When you make a phone call over a SIP trunk, your audio is converted into a digital packet and sent to its destination in the form of a VoIP (Voice over IP) call. This is why businesses who already have a strong internet connection are prime candidates for SIP trunks. By using the ifrastructure you already have in place, you can eliminate your expensive copper telephone lines, and reduce your communication costs dramatically.
Can I send faxes over SIP trunks?
Yes. You can choose to keep your existing fax machine, or switch to our eFax service to start sending and receiving faxes directly through your business email.
What can I expect on the day of my SIP migration?
On the day of your SIP trunk migration, your local My Tel Pros Reseller Agent will be on-site to update your phone system’s settings and oversee the migration process. A dedicated support technician will assist in establishing the connection between your phone system and our SIP service. We will test inbound and outbound calls to ensure high quality.

eFax

Is My Tel Pros eFax HIPAA compliant?
Yes. My Tel Pros eFax is HIPAA compliant, meaning we cater specifically to the protected health information of patients.
Is My Tel Pros eFax safe for other types of sensitive documents?
Yes. Whether in healthcare, finance, or any other field, using a secure faxing method that encrypts data and creates audit trails for following possible breaches is a good idea. Even credit card information that a small business may need to fax is still sensitive enough to warrant the extra security offered by My Tel Pros’ encryption. HIPAA compliance shows a high level of traceability, security, and privacy for any documents sent.
Is email to fax included?
Yes, email to fax is included in your eFax subscription. An eFax subscription includes 1 user with 1 email address.
Can multiple people in my company use email to fax?
An eFax subscription includes 1 user with 1 email address. Anyone who has access to that email address can send and receive faxes through email. If your company utilizes a global or shared email address, such as info@yourcompany.com, then anyone who has access to that email address can use fax to email.

If you need the ability for more than 1 email address to use email to fax, please contact your local reseller agent, or contact us at (984) 201-2000 for options.
